Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that Loris Karius will miss the start of the season after breaking his hand.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury during Wednesday’s game against Chelsea and is facing a couple of months out. He picked up the injury after a collision with team-mate Dejan Lovren at the Rose Bowl but played on. After complaining of ongoing pain, a scan today confirmed the fracture and surgery now looks likely.
Karius was expected to start the season ahead of Simon Mignolet so the news is obviously a devastating blow for Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp who is trying to assemble his own team for the new season ahead.
The £4.7million signing will now return to England for treatment.
