Borussia Dortmund have rebuffed an attempt by Liverpool to take Neven Subotić on loan until the end of the season.
Jürgen Klopp’s former employers are willing to negotiate a transfer with Liverpool but they are looking for more lucrative terms than what have been put on the table.
The 27-year-old centre-back has been on Klopp’s radar ever since he was appointed at Anfield back in October. A number of emails and comments from one of our contributors who has links to Subotić’s agent Stephen Kelly have previously been posted on our members’ website which is why we know our interest in the Serbia international is genuine.
Liverpool haven’t given up on Subotić and may submit an improved loan proposal but we’re unsure if Dortmund would consider that or whether they are looking for hard cash.
We would certainly advise that you closely monitor any transfer chatter relating to the player between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have today been [weakly] linked with Fiorentina’s defensive midfielder Mario Suarez (28) and Benfica winger Gonçalo Guedes (19).
