Liverpool’s Kevin Stewart awaiting scan results

Kevin Stewart could be facing a lengthy spell out following fears that he has sustained ankle ligament damage.

The Liverpool midfielder limped out of a training session at Melwood and will play no part in this week’s Europa League tie with Augsburg.

Stewart (22) was withdrawn from training on Monday and is now waiting the results of a scan.

Commenting on the situation, boss Jürgen Klopp said: “We lost Kevin Stewart in training. He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable.

“It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament.

“He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good.

“Lucas (minor hamstring) is back fit but not Adam (ongoing calf problem). He has no chance for Thursday’s game.”
