Liverpool want German ace Mario Götze

Mario Gotze

Liverpool are sniffing around Bayern Munich ace Mario Götze and could table a formal transfer bid for him in the summer.

The 23-year-old German international, who played under Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, is likely to be available at the end of the season following suggestions that he is unhappy and willing to consider a transfer away from the Allianz Arena.

Under contract until 2017, the attacking midfielder is likely to command a transfer fee around £35million but that isn’t putting Liverpool off yet.

Early suggestions are that Bayern wouldn’t stand in the way of his exit if a club was to step up with a lucrative offer.

Agents representing Liverpool are now making advances to see if Götze, capped 48 times by Germany, would be interested in a switch to Anfield. If he is, providing Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) provide the funds, Liverpool officials will try and negotiate a transfer.
