Liverpool remain locked in negotiations with Newcastle United for Georginio Wijnaldum.
The 25-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder has indicated that he wants to make the switch to Anfield from St James’ Park but both clubs have so far failed to agree a fee.
Newcastle are looking for a fee of around £25million while Liverpool are reluctant to pay more than £20million for him but according to well placed sources, a deal looks highly likely.
Liverpool though are refusing to cave in to Newcastle’s demands and have informed the North East outfit that they are in no rush to broker a deal claiming that they have additional options.
Wijnaldum, who scored 11 goals for relegated Newcastle last season, only joined The Toon last summer in a £14.5m deal after he had helped PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title.
A source told KopTalk this morning: “The current situation is normal. They are locked in negotiations. Things could move very fast this week if a few things are ironed out.
“Rafa is taking a look at what [Liverpool] players could be included in a deal.”
