Liverpool linked with Nuri Sahin

Reports originating from Turkey claim that Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin.

The 27-year-old failed to impress at Anfield during a loan spell back in the 2012-13 season but this was put down to how former boss Brendan Rodgers deployed him.

Sahin was unhappy and his season-long loan was cut short so that he could join his mentor Jürgen Klopp back at Dortmund.

Klopp once commented: “It was the wrong position [for Sahin to play at Liverpool]. If you are a No. 8 or 6 and you have to as a No. 9 or 10 – it’s not possible.

“For some guys of course it’s possible, but Nuri’s a brilliant player – not nine-and-a-half and not 10 – and I don’t know why Brendan Rodgers would do this.”
