Liverpool have £8m transfer bid rejected

Newspaper reports today claim that Liverpool have had an £8million transfer bid rejected by Southampton for Shane Long.

Reports last week suggested that the 28-year-old striker had emerged as a transfer target for Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp but as yet we’ve seen nothing credible as yet to believe that a bid has gone in.

Liverpool have a number of strikers out injured so Klopp is naturally looking for a solution.

However, some fans were left scratching their heads yesterday when the £32.5million Christian Benteke spent most of the match on the bench. He got a bit of game time at the end, as did loanee centre-back Steven Caulker who was again deployed as a striker for the closing minutes of the game.
