Liverpool consider Sadio Mané transfer bid

Newspaper reports claim that Liverpool are considering making a move for Southampton’s Sadio Mané after reportedly putting on hold their interest in Mario Götze.

Götze, who recently changed his representation from the SportsTotal agency to his father, has suggested that he now has no interest in leaving Bayern Munich and if you choose to believe today’s reports, Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp has subsequently turned to 24-year-old Senegal international, Mané.

Despite quotes from Götze about remaining at Bayern Munich, we don’t believe that the chances of him moving to Anfield are dead, that opinion could of course change, but at the present time we feel there’s a lot of bluff taking place between his camp and his current employers. That doesn’t mean we are suggesting he will move to Liverpool this summer. We’re merely stating that we don’t believe this potential deal is dead as yet.

Regardless of today’s reports, Sadio Mané is ‘a possible’ and speculation linking us with him shouldn’t be dismissed either. Götze has a year left on his contract but Mané is under contract until 2018 which obviously means he would be a more expensive option. We would also expect Southampton to demand an inflated transfer fee should we end up swooping for him.
