Leicester City v Liverpool – TEAM NEWS

Jurgen Klopp

Jürgen Klopp is facing a potential defensive crisis ahead of Saturday’s Premier League return to Leicester City.

The Liverpool manager could be without a number of personnel due to various injury problems.

Centre-back Joel Matip has missed training this week due to a knock sustained against Burnley while fellow centre-back Dejan Lovren is a doubt as a result of the back injury that has seen him miss the last two games. If those two miss out, Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan will have to provide cover.

Midfielder Emre Can, who also picked up a knock during the 1-1 draw with Burnley, was also not involved at Melwood this week while Nathaniel Clyne (back) and Adam Lallana (thigh) are still out.

Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “It’s nothing major for Dejan but it’s been enough to keep him out of the past two games.

“He’s not in training so he’s a doubt for the weekend and that’s not too cool.

“It’s a completely different situation but Joel Matip and Emre Can also have little bits from the last game so we have to see. Hopefully they will be back in training today or tomorrow but we have to wait.

“We cannot change this. We can’t just make a back problem go away.

“There are still two days to go so we will see who is available.”
