Jose Enrique rejects Newcastle – Denis Cheryshev to Valencia

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has turned down a chance to sign for Newcastle.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has failed to agree terms and has chosen to continue collecting his £65,000-a-week wages at Anfield until his contract expires in the summer.

Liverpool were willing to pay off his contract just to get him off the books but Newcastle were unable to agree a deal with him.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev is on his way to Valencia on loan until the end of the season. Liverpool made an enquiry about his availability but did not follow up on it. Liverpool denied making an approach.
