Joël Matip injury news

Liverpool look to be without Joël Matip for at least a month due to his thigh injury.

The Liverpool defender sustained the injury during the 3-0 win at Stoke City earlier in the week and is a major doubt to figure during the Christmas programme.

A scan would appear to back up Liverpool’s fears that the injury will keep him out of the side for a number of weeks.

Having sold Mamadou Sakho to Crystal Palace, where he has been handed the captaincy following his impressive displays, Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp can now only turn to Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan, although there have been calls for Joe Gomez to be deployed in the heart of the defence.
