Liverpool hope that Joe Gomez will be able to return to full training in October.
The 19-year-old has been out since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while on international duty with the England Under-21s almost a year ago.
He was close to a full return at Melwood back in July but was diagnosed with tendinopathy in his Achilles which set him back once again.
The youngster, who can be deployed as a full-back or a centre-back, has reported that his knee is now fine and that it’s his Achilles problem that he needs to overcome to return to action.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is hoping that Gomez will step up his recovery by mid to late October.
