James Milner is still hopeful of securing a new contract with Liverpool.
The 33-year-old midfielder is in the final year of his contract and is yet to be offered an extension, much to the disappointment of the Anfield faithful who think he deserves another year.
It is believed that Milner would like to finish his career at hometown club Leeds United if he has to move on, but hopefully it won’t come to that as there’s no sign of him slowing down and his presence around the club and in particular around the younger players who look up to him, makes him a valuable squad member.
Commenting on the situation again, Milner said: “Someone said to me, a few years back, that I’m going to have to rein it in in training, and look after myself a bit.
“I didn’t agree. I felt that the more I pushed myself, then the higher level I get in terms of fitness.
“I still feel very good and no different to what I did six years ago.
“My contract with Liverpool is up the end of the season but hopefully we’ll sort something out.
“I want to keep going as long as possible at the highest level.”
The Liverpool midfielder is currently promoting his new book ‘Ask A Footballer’ so you can expect to see a few interviews from him over the coming days.
