Geoffrey Kondogbia linked with Liverpool

Geoffrey Kondogbia is attracting the interest of Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp, according to reports originating from Italy today.

It is claimed that the 23-year-old defensive midfielder is on Klopp’s radar ahead of the January transfer window although the reports do appear somewhat speculative.

Capped 5 times by France, the Frenchman has flopped at Inter Milan since his £27million transfer from Monaco in 2015.

Inter boss Frank de Boer publicly criticised the player for his performance in a 1-1 draw with Bologna last month after hauling him off after just 28 minutes but more recently he likened him to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

“Kondogbia is like Pogba,” said De Boer. “They play the same position.

“He has to win his personal duels and keep things simple, but he has all the characteristics needed to become a top player.

“He is still young and has room for improvement. But he is physically strong and has a lot of quality. He has to keep working on details to improve.”

The player’s agent Jonathan Maarek claims his client is happy at the San Siro but recently stated that a number of clubs are sniffing around him.

There’s no credible suggestions that Liverpool are one of them but someone certainly wants you to think that’s the case.
