Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has hit out at Juventus after they left him out of their Champions League squad for the group stage.
The 25-year-old was omitted from the Italian outift’s squad that was submitted to UEFA yesterday.
Can said: “I am shocked and angry.
“Last week, the club promised me something else, yesterday the coach called me and told me in less than a minute that I was not in the squad.
“I cannot explain it, I have not been given any reason.
“Me and my advisor talked to other clubs [during the summer transfer window]. After talking to Juventus I decided to stay on.
“For me, one condition was to play in the Champions League.”
Can had been linked with a number of clubs during the summer and he claims that French giants Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in him was genuine.
Asked if PSG had made an approach for his services and he replied: “Yes, Paris as well.”
Can allowed his Liverpool contract to run down last summer before moving to Italy. Liverpool went on to win the Champions League without him.
Liverpool announced their squad earlier today.
