Speaking after the match, boss Jürgen Klopp said: “We were better tonight and we deserved to win, we created plenty of chances.

“Could we have done better? Yes a lot. But is that important? No.

“You need to be 100% professional, really serious in games like this, which could be difficult.

“The opponent was ready for every opportunity but we didn’t give them any.

“We could’ve been better in the first half with the last pass and in the second with our counter-attack but it’s 3-0, all good.

“What can I say? This is a very important tournament for us, for the players, and we have to show it from the first second.

“I don’t need to say magic things in the dressing room to make them believes it’s an important tournament. Let’s go for it.

“The pleasing thing is it’s not we are surprised by it.

“I have always thought the difference between home and away shouldn’t be that big especially when you’re a good side, which we are.

“It was difficult, I don’t want to underestimate it.

“That’s what we expect from us. Tonight was very professional from us.

“Ovie made his first appearance, Ingsy was given half an hour that was really good.

“Danny is still an important player for us. For Divock the 90 minutes was really important.

“There were a lot of things that were really good, but it wasn’t a perfect game. We need to sort some things. But we are still in a good way.”
