Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes Daniel Sturridge has had a “difficult” season at Anfield.
The much talked about Liverpool hitman has had a miserable campaign due to his numerous injury problems which has at times resulted in fans and even his current manager getting on his case.
Although no longer at Anfield, Rodgers, who has been linked with the Celtic job, is still keeping an eye on the player he signed from Chelsea back in 2013 for £12million.
Rodgers said: “It’s been difficult for Daniel because he’s been injured a lot, and other players have come in and have done very, very well.
“Jurgen, as it is for any manager, has to manage the squad the best you possibly can to get the results and it’s about the team you can put together.”
Commenting on his own career, he added: “I am enjoying the rest. I have no concrete offers at the moment but certainly in the summer I want to get back to work again.
“I’ve had a great rest, I’ve enjoyed it and I’ll be refreshed and ready for the summer.”
