Barcelona have slapped a £20million asking price on their goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Liverpool are willing to pay around £12million for the 23-year-old German international which appears to fall considerably lower than what Barca are willing to accept.
Ter Stegen has a buy-out clause in his contract which is in excess of £60m and although the Catalan giants aren’t looking for anything near that figure, they’re also not in a rush to sell.
Barcelona paid Borussia Monchengladbach £10million for Ter Stegen in May 2014 and signed him up on a 5-year contract but he is reportedly unsettled at the Nou Camp.
Reports claim that Barcelona believe 3rd-choice ‘keeper Jordi Masip is ready to step in as Claudio Bravo’s understudy.
Liverpool have tried to sign Ter Stegen before but once Barcelona became involved, our interest cooled when it become obvious that his heart was set on a move to Spain.
Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp wants to upgrade on Simon Mignolet although there is no suggestion that he wants to bomb him out of the club just yet.
