Andy Robertson out for months, surgery confirmed

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is preparing to undergo surgery on his shoulder which will leave him out of action for around 3 months.

The 29-year-old dislocated his shoulder while on international duty with Scotland following a challenge with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Liverpool’s medical team came to the conclusion that the player could be available for selection again without surgery in a month’s time, but the problem could have resurfaced further down the line and forced him out again. Instead, a decision has been made to send him under the knife next week in the hope of correcting the issue.

Kostas Tsimikas will provide cover and will step up to face Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
