Given Agger's inconsistent fitness, what do fellow red-men think of us potentially signing Sol Campbell as a back-up Centre-back? I Personally think he could guide the talented youngsters we have at the club, whilst playing the odd game.

I agree with getting him in earlier, but I think Rafa is still debating who would represent value for money, between Michael Turner and Ryan Shawcross, before going for Campbell. Maybe the reason Campbell hasn't signed for a new club is down to him wanting big wages. I'd rather Rafa spend the funds on an extra world-class forward than signing a younger English centre-back who would play a limited amount of games this season.

campbell's legs have gone and he is not half the player he was as he relied on his pace to make up for his complete and utter lack of any kind of positional sense ....... last thing we need is him teaching the kids how to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ...... kelly needs games so agger's fragility could be perfect timing for him to get some

Campbell has been a great player in the Premiership for years. His talent needs no justification. Judging by the goals we have conceded in pre-season, when the youngsters have been at the back, it is they who need to develop their positional sense. If Arsene Wenger considered him a good Bosman buy, then so too should Benitez during this transfer window.

he was still strong and fast and young when wenger signed him ........ now he is getting on and cumbersome - and prone to picking up knocks and his pace is not what it was ...... totally different situation to when wenger signed him

i never said the kids don't need to develop their positional sense but what they don't need is to develop the same lack of it that campbell has always had

Sami never had any real pace, and he was a first teamer! I'd bring Sol in as stated - to cover for the main three cb's. He played more Premier League games (32) than Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano last season, so he can't be that prone to knocks! 73 England caps to his name, and is the second youngest England Captain ever, after Bobby Moore. He is also one of only five Englishmen to have scored in a Champions League Final. I'd take him tomorrow - he's a winner. Not bad for a player who doesn't know where to stand on a football pitch.

Brede Hangeland is a quality player, but Fulham are an emerging talented Premiership side under the Legend Hodgson. He would simply cost too much money. He's 28, and has never played for a big club. Agger is only 24, and is that talented a player that he could play in midfield too. If Skrtel continues to develop at his current rate, he will be one of the best centre-backs in world football - he's a beast!

Any club in world football would love to have Agger and Skrtel in their squad. End of! Top players, at a top club.

I'd rather one of the two young guys. Sol is on his way to retirement.

Sol could play a bit part role - deffo. No pace anymore but could coach the kids. Shoulda got Hangelandrover ages ago.
