Just been listening to the radio and they said Stevie G and 6 other men were arrested last night in Southport.

Anyone got anymore info?

Steven Gerrard has been arrested following an alleged assault following an incident at a Southport pub in the early hours of this morning.

Six men were detained in a nearby street shortly after 2.30am.

A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Before anyone contributes to this thread, please remember that just because the skipper has been arrested, doesn't mean that he is guilty.

Not only that but there's no crime in going for a few drinks. As a high profile player, who attracts a lot of jealousy, my opinion is that he will have been set upon. It's not uncommon for players to get caught up in nonsense without looking for it.

Correct but still something we dont need during the goodtimes at our club. Thank god its only Preston away our next game thats all I can say.

Gerrard is string enough to go through this...

And i'm sure he'll have the backing and support of the Liverpool FC and the fans...

A police spokesman said: "At around 2.30am this morning officers attended a disturbance at a licensed premises on Bold Street.

"Six men were arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault on Lord Street.

"The men, four aged 33, 31, 29 and 19, who all come from the Huyton area, a 28-year-old man from Formby and an 18-year-old man from Litherland remain in police custody.

"A 34-year-old man from Southport was taken to hospital with facial injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

"Anyone who saw anything or who has any information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 3165 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

We all know Stevie is not a perfect lad. He likes to drink with his mates, from what I know he is not allowed to go in many restaurants in liverpool due to previous bad behaviour with gerrard and his mates.

Hey i dont blame him relaxing with mates in a local bar after a fantastic win against newcastle. No problem. But you can imagine just because its something to do with gerrard, he has beaten someone down. Hopefully he will be released and we can move on.

It'll have been his matesor someone giving him some grief. I can't see him starting a thing. Fingers crossed

Its funny the way 6 were arrested but only Gerrards name gets mentioned,that say to me that its a load of balls and the media just trying to make a meal of what happened
