It wasnt just the result from last night which was bad enough, is was the style and performance of the players which in all my time as a fan was the worst iv ever seen. This wasnt even close, the side at the bottom of the table outplayed us at HOME. Roy has to be sacked and pride put back in the club.

what quality players would join us now? any player worth his salt will go to a better team. Roy needs to go before more damage is done

I was more willing to give the guy a chance than probably anyone at the start of the season. I'm neither unrealistic nor excessively impatient, and never envisaged calling for the guy's head before 2010 was out. But after last night I can take no more and know beyond doubt the club is destined to plumb depths even lower than under Benitez or Houllier. His comments after the match ended were the final insult. So I want him gone, NOW.

And Konchesky - a few months ago I defended him, claiming he would improve on the basis of innumerable performances I'd seen at West Ham and Fulham. I must now eat humble pie, accept this ain't gonna happen and agree he must be one of the worst players ever to have worn the LFC shirt.

LFC will continue the decline into the Championship whilst Roy and the useless, mediocre or simply ineffective Konchesky, Leiva, Poulsen, Ngog, Aurelio are involved in the first team. Add to that list Agger - a potentially class act who is available on average for one game in ten over a season - Carragher - who is well past his best, Kuyt - ditto, Shelvey the new Lucas Leiva, Joe Cole the new Robbie Keane, Aquilani yet another financial millstone who will never make it in the Premiership if he ever comes back. Yes I'm stating the blindingly obvious and most of these are easy targets but what an incredible mess the club is in.

And some people want Benitez (the major contributor to our status quo) to return. Unbelievable. Just seen on the shoutbox that caughtoffside.com has insinuated we might get Frank Rijkaard - if they could be right for the first time ever, I would love the site for the rest of my days!

I think you're being a bit harsh there on some of those players, and Benitez. Carragher, yes, it's undeniable he's on the decline but you can't fault his commitment. Kuyt I disagree with you there, I don't think he's declining - he's the same workhorse he's always been. And that work does get results. I don't think he should be our first-choice right-winger (and definitely not our left-winger, I mean, WTF) but he's still an invaluable squad player IMO.

Aquilani was starting to show he could make it in the Premier League last season, especially in the latter half - he finished with 6 assists. To put that in perspective, that put him 21st overall in the entire league, one behind Gerrard's 7 assists. You would have expected him to have gone on and improved on that this season, had we not shipped him out to Juventus.

Lucas is a popular scapegoat, but the last couple of seasons he's done the job he's been asked to do well. You don't get the Brazilian number 5 shirt by being a donkey.

As for Benitez, he won trophies, got us to second. Yes, we slumped last year, but to assume that he couldn't have turned it around is unreasonable IMO. I hate to use Ferguson as an example, but after he took over at Man Utd waaaaaay back, he took them to 2nd in 87-88. Next season? 11th. It was 13th the season after, only then did they get back into the top ten (6th). While it's popular to boot out the manager at the first decline, managers can turn them around.

Benitez did well in the situation (owners, club management) we were in. That said, while I don't think Benitez should have gone myself (especially when Roy was the eventual alternative), that doesn't mean I think we should bring him back necessarily. But I do think it's not 'unbelievable' that anyone would want him to return.

The damage has come from the previous owners who very shrewdly appointed a manager not fit for this club. I said he's a gonner and I stick to it. Sacked tmrw 12 noon, that's my prediction

It was Purslow that appointed Roy.

Agreed he worked for them. They didn't have a clue about management so they delegated it out to people in suits. Too many people who have little to do with football and more to do with business have been making decisions at the club.
