And if your argument is he had his hands tied because of the ownership situation, well it's plain obvious to everyone he was brought in as a yes man to the previous regime, which means he was brought in not because he was the best manager for the job but because he is to much of a soft ass tw@t to fight for the fans and what's best for the club.

that to me is a man who is trying to pull the wool over our eyes and think where as deluded as the man himself. Which is a huge insult.

He's brought in konchesky and saw two players who he wanted whilst he was at fulham go the other way.

He brought poulsen in who's shiiiit, he was bigging himself up saying he signed joe cole and now he's doing shiiit he's washed his hands with him aswell.

And he signed meireles, good player, but where not seeing the best of him with the way where playing.

He got rid of aquilani and insua on loan aswell. Did we need joe cole when we had aquilani?

Overall Roy has ruled over 8 transfers and we've had one plus, not good enough.
Poulson is a squad player no more and does'nt really play, Konchesky has been poor I agree but any worse a full back than Josemi or pound for Pound Glenn Johnson, Meireles does look a good player and him and Lucas do look like the beginning of a partnership in time, Joe Cole on a free will always be better value than Aqualani for 20 million who is just completely sh*t and is probably worse than Mascherano pound for pound as the worst in the Clubs History although Robbie Keane does run them both close.

Mascherano worst signing? You do read what you write, yes? He was signed to do a specific job, and he did it very well. He's pound for pound better than Poulsen who doesn't deserve to be in the EPL for any club. I'll agree that Mascherano is one-dimensional, but one-dimensional players can excel when played to their strength. Roy doesn't excel at playing the squad to its strengths, and that is why we're struggling to get any sort of cohesion and momentum, and I'm sure that's lowering our morale (and his press conferences may be credited with an assist here). I also can't agree that Cole is better than Aquilani, but arguing this point has no value because you're willing to give the latter no chances while defending Roy by saying he needs more time. Try to recall we have paid all of 5m for Aquilani every time you say he cost 20m (and the total of the installments does not amount to your valuation either). But again, I'm arguing with a wall here, so I'll move on.

For me Konchesky and Poulsen both rival Dossena for worst signing post-Houllier. You also say "worst in the clubs history" without remembering Traore and a great many other wretched players who have passed through our door. Is there no way you can put your hatred of Rafa aside for even one post? You're proving to be as versatile a thinker as Mascherano. When you prove to be more objective in your posts, I'll be more objective in my opinion of you, but I don't suspect that opinion will be changing any time soon.

And at the cost of repeating myself, you can't compare 6 seasons of transfers with 1 window. If you want to slate Rafa for Dossena then you may only choose other players he bought during that window to hang him in order to make any kind of point in defense of Roy. Roy signed 7 players (Cole, Meireles, Poulsen, Konchesky, Wilson, Shelvey, Jones). Only one is good enough for LFC, though it's too early to judge Wilson and Shelvey. So that's 1/5, or 20%. If 20% or more of Rafa's signings were worth the shirt, then Roy is strictly worse in the transfer window. If Rafa signed 15% good then Roy is only marginally better than him. You see where this is going, Reclaim? Roy hasn't shown he understands quality, not now, not when he was with Fulham or Inter or anywhere in the last 20 years. Rafa may not have had much of a eye for a cheap buy, but that doesn't excuse Roy! Rafa at least won silverware despite his failings in the transfer market. Roy? Not so much.

Still wasting my time arguing though, aren't I?

Why do people keep talking about instalments or things like we are owed this amount and that amount, it does'nt make a blind bit of difference, the player was valued at 20 million and thats how he will always be judged, Keane, Mascherano, Aqualani and Johnson are all rated at 20 million wether we have paid it or not and it shows how poor in judgemnt our previous manager was to pay that amount, it's just like Veron will always haunt Ferguson and Reyes will always haunt Wenger who were also flops for there Clubs.

Except that no one brings up those flops from other clubs - just the ones Rafa made. Why is that, I wonder?

And if we bought Mascherano at 20m, and sold him at 20m, what difference does his perceived value make? He's a good player if you happen to need a ball winner as your DM, he played well for us despite your opinion of him, and he cost us nothing overall. I don't see any problem with him whatsoever. He left in disgrace after his "strike", but that doesn't mean he was a bad player, nor that he was worth less than 20m. He most certainly doesn't deserve to be ranked alongside Keane as a flop. Now you're just picking random people you don't like and saying they were bad, when in fact they were not. "Overrated" is the word you're looking for, not that you look for ways to be objective.

Well lets look at Mascherano shall we, he came into a team which was winning trophies, had the best defensive record in the league and the same team that had just set a Club record of shut outs was it about 13 or 14, as soon as he signed we became trophyless to this day. We signed a player who was a severe liability in that he was booked or sent off in most games he played and while he was at the Club we invested about 3 seasons in training, coaching and an obscene wage packet. At the end of his Liverpool career he sh*t on every Liverpool fan who had ever backed him, supported him or was patient with him by refusing to play against Manchester City, we then sold him at a loss. People who dont really know the game were taken in by this joker in that they thought he was a good player, he could'nt pass a ball 5 yards, wasted possession and could'nt score goals, most of the tackles he made were from his own mistakes of losing the ball in the first place, pound for pound the most limited player in our history.

I'm gona agree with emp and reclaim, I stand by my posts before he left, he was limited, I think I put his assist stats from his career with us, think it was 2 r something abysmal like that. He probably is the best ball winner in the world, he's got a good engine in him and is quick across the ground and can tackle. But his downside is that he can't pass, no vision, doesn't score, reckless and a liability to the team in big games (sent off v utd twice)

glad he went to be honest, but as for selling him at a loss? Paid 18 for him an sold him for 22-24 wernt it?

Like I said, Masch was overrated. I'd take a 28 year old Hamman over him any day of the week. Better all-round and a good pro.
