At least he wins his away games matey. Think there is a massive difference between winning an away game in the Premier League than in the mickey mouse Portugese one... Mickey Mouse! Haha! Just because they only have 3-4 teams worth mentioning doesn't make Villas Boas any less interesting! Those 3-4 teams (Benfica, Porto, Sporting Lisboa and maybe Braga) all have the right standards to be able to qualify for the EPL! If You call the Portuguese league a Mickey Mouse League, You might also do the same with the Spanish. Also only about 4 teams worth mentioning (Barca, Real Madrid, Villareal and Valencia)! I have heard it all now, people comparing the mickey mouse Portugese League to the English Premier League or even the Spanish one. I suppose the mentality of that coincides with this post in the first place with people saying we should appoint a nomark Portugese manager who hardly anyone has even heard of, to manage Liverpool Football Club, might as well appoint Chris Hughton as he has more credibility and more likely to succeed in this country.

Maybe he is'nt the right man, but that's just your opinion, it's the owners decision which is important here and up to now they seem to think Hodgson is the right man, they are prepared to back this up by publicaly stating they will be giving him time and funds to see if he can turn things around, I am personaly happy with this, time will tell...

Don't forget! The owners think his the man. Numerous players from Liverpool have said it and the man that will help Roy with transfer targets Damien Commoli has also stated he enjoys working with Roy.
To create a successful team you need to create the right enivroment. At this point in time The manager,Owners,Players, directors are all pointing in the right direction.
He should be given to the rest of the season adleast.Who knows the reds could come out and have a cracking second half of the season. Finish top 4 and everyone will then jump on the bandwagon.
Time will tell. This Festive period and Jan is very important.

Of course it's the owners decision! But if we apply that stance on each and every post in here I think You'll see most of them are useless! What's the point airing thoughts on KopTalk then?
My opinion regarding Roy isn't based on anything else but his appearance on and off pitch, and how he sets the squad up to play.
Roy is a defensive minded manager who constantly airs his thoughts publicly and blames everyone else (former coach, players etc) for any mistake/defeat.
Also I haven't seen any real sign of improvement (away games) over time, which makes me doubt his abilities even more.
What I want to see is offensive football, which can be played regardless of what level the players are at. Look at Blackpool: How many in that squad would even make the bench in LFC?
Yet still they play attack minded, attracting footie, as opposed to us!

Villas Boas is in his early 30's; the mere fact you know of him speaks volumes for his ability. Let's face it, your man Hodgson at this stage of his career was yet to burn up the Swedish league, but it would not be long before he would gain some respect for having done so. Villas Boas may be the same - take him out of a small league and he may also flounder for the next 30 years. However I'd rather have a man in charge of LFC who's star is burning brightly, than one whose star faded more than two decades ago. Regardless of how you consider the level of the Portuguese league in relation to the EPL, 25 games unbeaten is an excellent record in any league for a manager in his first season in charge of a side with broken morale after their worst league finish in a decade. Were Roy streets ahead of this man he would have done at last something useful with LFC in his 6 months here, but instead we're looking more likely to slip lower than our worst finish in two decades with him in charge. Much like Blackburn before us when he was in charge there. Maybe 25 games unbeaten is too much to expect for this squad, but 5 points on the road in 9 games is pathetic. To even pretend to be a decent EPL side you need more than a point and a half on average per away game over the season - unless Roy somehow manages to win every single remaining way game this season he will barely get more than that, and I know there isn't a single reader of this post who believes we're about to go on a 10 game winning streak away. Just to break even with the expectations of a man who should be proud to be manager of LFC, Roy now has to produce a miracle, one there's been absolutely no sign of during his career ever since he left Malmo. Villas Boas may not be all that, but Roy certainly isn't.

Your asking for a style of football Anfield has not witnessed for nearly 20 years since Roy Evan's was in charge, the football since has been stale, boring and unimaginative under Houllier and Benitez so to start all of a sudden calling for a change of play with a new manager 6 months into a new job is a bit wide of the mark. Lets just see what the team plays like when Hodgson has his own players in and is playing his style of football only then it will be fair to judge wether he is the right man or not for the Job. To change a team who has played boring and negative under the previous manager overnite is a big ask in any managers book and to change a Clubs boring mentality takes even longer, Arsene Wenger took absolutely years to rid Arsenal of there boring tag earned under George Graham and Bruce Rioch. I think we should just let Hodgson get on with the massive job he has and start judging him next season after he has spent money on his players during the Summer.

As opposed to judging him on the new players he bought this last summer, and the negative, boring football we play now? It's ok to make absolutely no impression on a club in one's first season, other perhaps than to break a slew of firsts that are negative? Who do you think you're kidding? The team is going to continue to play the way it is now, I'm sorry to say. Go back and see how the mighty Fulham played, and you won't find a great deal of difference at LFC, other than the value of the squad.

How can a team change the way it plays under a new manager when the new manager is still working with the previous managers players. That's the reason am saying lets just wait and see how we play when the new manager has 7 or 8 of his own players playing in the first 11. You talk about Fulham, have you ever thought that while he was managing Fulham he could only ever afford to buy a certain kind of footballer, teams who are quite restricted in money usualy do play the same type of football if you look at Fulham, Blackburn, Everton and Villa e.t.c. none you would say play Attacking football and all dont have loads of money.

See what your saying reclaim, but roy has almost admitted the football we've played this season has been good and it's all down to the fact we have not taken are chances, (source : - Liverpool echo)
that to me is a man who is trying to pull the wool over our eyes and think where as deluded as the man himself. Which is a huge insult.
He's brought in konchesky and saw two players who he wanted whilst he was at fulham go the other way.
He brought poulsen in who's shiiiit, he was bigging himself up saying he signed joe cole and now he's doing shiiit he's washed his hands with him aswell.
And he signed meireles, good player, but where not seeing the best of him with the way where playing.
He got rid of aquilani and insua on loan aswell. Did we need joe cole when we had aquilani?
Overall Roy has ruled over 8 transfers and we've had one plus, not good enough.
