Carlton Cole isn't worth £8m! He doesn't even stand out for West Ham so why would he be good for us? If we buy him then I hope he does well and proves me wrong but he has done nothing to suggest he is good enough.

Actually we took a chance on a 19 year old welshman from chester city a few years ago,took him 19 odd games to get his 1st goal but he turned out quite good in the end,so never say never.

That welsh man(Rush)was the top scoring youth player in welsh history at the time and had been touted for stardom for sometime. We also paid a record fee for the kid of £300k, so not really a gamble either.

Cole is 27 and been around for a long time. FAILING at Chelsea and being on loan at several clubs. It's unlikely he will push on to be honest.

know what you mean. We seem to have had far too many Cheyrou's in recent years rather than Rushes.
To be honest I cannot think of a cheap pick me up that has gone onto to be a real star for us. Gary Mac the last one?

Rafa did hit a purple patch in the transfer market picking up Alonso/Garcia/Agger/Reina/Sktrel/Masch. some for modest fees

since then freebees have been average at best (Maxi decent, probably)

C Cole is not even cheap either at 8-10mil.

That has been our biggest downfall i think,that we seem to be constantly shopping in Poundland,and our rivals in Harrods.
Hopefully we can start obtaining 1st choice targets and put some real competition for places which will hopefully be the kick up the ass some of our first team need.

Hope you're right (you always are I suppose ;)). I never like seeing players we buy bombing.

I get why people want Liverpool to buy C.Cole, because at the moment we are a struggling club and every players have their own aspiration. But again Cole is not the answer, he runs fast as someone would do in their grandmothers house. John Terry has scored 19 PL goals in comparison to Coles 39, watch out Carlton Terry is coming close, We need to buy good players from struggling teams or in the same position as us e.g Ashley Young

why haven't LFC club tried to sign him. this is the kind of talented young player that is needed in the starting 11, to get things improving a-sap.
