I have noticed that teams who put alot of defensive pressure on our back 4, closing them down and not giving them time on the ball usually cause our passing game to go to sh*t. If you watch the first half from yesterday's game this is why we barely any shots on goal. It was because of Newcastle's pressure.... which wasn't amazing but Johnson, Skrtel. Soto and Konch can't handle it. We need a better back 4!

that works both ways maddog, teams seem able to close us down so quick because we let them play in front of our defence so if they lose the ball they have a better chance than us of recovering it and if we win the ball we can not do anything with it because we are in our own half and seeing as there are no players able to do anything with the ball except torres who is not exactly playing at his best we have no chance except a hopeful punt .This System of Roy would need crouch or zamorra
IT IS A FUNDAMENTAL stupidity of hodgson to translate this containment strategy to a club that wants to win the league at the same time pretending he wants us to win things (although I don't remember him actually saying that i remember him saying we must lower expectations though)
