A striker can miss 5 or 6 chances but if a defender or keeper make just one mistake teams often get punished. Unfortunately thats how it goes.

No body is perfect, even Emp.

I dunno murph, I've seen some fairly perfect bodies in my time.

*ahem*

Getting back to football though, anyone remember the 4-4 game against Arsenal? Right; everyone. And how it was widely reported to have been the game of the season or best game of the century or whatever. Except that the only reason it wasn't 4-0 was because we were appalling in defense and Arshavin punished us with 4 clinical strikes. Arsenal weren't even trying to take the points, ffs - they wanted more pressure on United so that they would have an easier CL fixture, and we just handed them a draw, killing our title challenge in the process.

That game demonstrates the "strikers missing chances vs defenders making errors" debate. 4 mistakes - 4 goals. Going out there to defend simply increases the number of opportunities your defenders have to make mistakes, which ties is rather nicely with the number of own goals and clean sheets we've kept this season in the EPL.

We're where we deserve to be with our mid-table tactics; mid-table. Unless we come out and play more we're going to stay there. Chelsea are not going to continue to have injury problems, nor Spurs nor Arsenal continue to be so erratic. We have to up our game, and while Roy has made some changes to his initial tactics he's not following through with them for the entire game. If our opposition are rubbish (as Villa were), then for goodness sakes let's put them to the sword to really get some confidence up rather than resting on our non-existent laurels.

Biggest problem we have at the back is lack of pace.Skrtel was not responsible for the goal in the Spurs game (even though it was an own goal)it was a combination of Johnson and Carra who were responsible for that goal.

Partly agreed!

Have a look at the video clip below, and You'll see that also Lucas was involved there. All 3 (Johnson, Carra and Lucas) just jogs along with Modric who fires past them. No one makes an outburst against Modric or tries to up their pace.
