You are watching different game, he has been ok not poor, 8/10 players played out of position normally play [oops].

Not hard to work out, its funny how you don't rate him if value for money that is cheap, playing in cm role he will come good.

I guess if knew him at porto or for his country you wouldn't make such big statement without seeing him playing huge number of games at cm.

And he has been good when played cm for us.

And if your saying spurs Finnish was poor what about us? we shouldn't of been more than 1-0 up

The least we deserved was draw, not to mention that was best away game this season, don't fall into this hype about spurs.

I'm judging Mereiles on what he's done for us. Couldnt give a hoot what he did for his previous club or Country. So far he's been average.

My opinion is based on our current manager who to be honset is turning out to be the worst in our modern history.

Souness will be happy because this guys is making him look like Shankly.

Rafas in the past Emp your the one who constanly brings him into every conversation.

Hodgson is even dragging us supporters down with him.

Not often you get things so wrong murph. Best performance away this season, it was our woefull finishing not spurs that dictated the match. draw! we should have taken 3

Roy is responsible for the fans turning on him.

Emp all I'll say is Carlton Cole and Kevin Doyle.............

if you think meirles is poor and aqua class then your opinion is suspect. but then again you think wafa is the man so what can you expect

here we go again .. Roy was appointed by a board that no longer exsists.. fact.. he was payroled by owners that no longer exsist..fact,,, he'll be gone at the end of the season even if he wins the league(which i hope the old boy does, a fitting end to his first shot at the big time)... Fact

Your judging him out of position, its like judging messi as dm of cours he wont be as good, judge raul in center, then you point will be valid.

And i agree with you on point of the manager, maybe if we had different one we would of won the game against spurs, as we won't of sat back and let them attack us.

But neverless good game tonight so far, and raul has doing pretty fine with Lucas in cm so far is his rightful position just like babel playing really well in his rightful position.

you are way off the mark flames, meireles has improved hugley since he moved to center midfield, he really is beginning to look like a class player

On the contrary, that would simply leave two fewer positions that we would need Stevie to play, cutting it down to only 3 or 4. AMC, wing etc.

Meireles was poor as a wide player, but not everyone can adapt both to a new league and a new position simultaneously. He shows signs most games of having quality, and either his teammates or his manager are not allowing him to play to his strengths more often. Of all the fresh players we've seen thus far this season, he's the only one who has truly deserved to be given more time; the rest have been average or worse, sad to say. I don't count Kelly because he was our best RB coming into the season, and Roy simply hasn't realized it yet, much like a certain CB who is yet to play there in the EPL.

I feel that Kelly brings to the side what Roy needs from it more than Johnson does, which is at least some defensive ability. Johnson doesn't really fit Roy's master plan, nor does Carra (who is pretty bad going forward and too slow staying back, despite the never-say-die attitude which does him credit). However if we're comparing Kelly and Johnson as wingbacks, then obviously Johnson gets the nod because he is capable of being very dangerous in the right conditions. Horses for courses, but I'm just not sure we're on a racecourse that suits a wingback. Perhaps I should have said "fullback" rather than "RB" when making my original post and avoid the ambiguity.

Agger is indeed injury-prone, and that is a worry. Overrated or not, he doesn't have a lot of competition at CB. Skrtel doesn't do it for me, Carra is solid but slow, and Soto is in the Carra mold but good in the air. Wilson is ... yet to be seen. None of these is a first choice CB for every game. Perhaps Agger isn't either, and like Johnson might not be a fit with Hodgson's tactics, but that's what the transfer window is for (provided we fix certain other holes first, of course). The point for debate is that we have a young, ball-playing CB in the squad, a rarity usually cherished, so can we really afford to chase him away?
