Who are you saying is our best Player? I hope you dont mean Torres because he has'nt been the best player since his first two seasons at the Club, Darren Bent is a better player than the Torres you and I have seen for the last two seasons, Carlton Cole is a better support striker than Ngog or Kuyt who have both been used in the past and Jarvis is a better winger than Maxi or Kuyt and more reliable than Babel. So you see those three players I have mentioned are all better than what we currently have and could be within our price range and available.
You're like emp - you're absolutely right, of course. Torres is not our best player, not over the last two seasons. This is indeed true. Our best player over the period is Pepe Reina, and by some considerable distance. Our next best player is probably Lucas, given that Gerrard sulked all of last season. Does that mean we should sell a 30+million pound striker and replace him with one costing 5-10 million? The last time we did that we sold Mascherano and bought Poulsen, and we all know how swimmingly that's going.
Bent is decent, I'll give him that. But he is not in the same class as Torres in a side playing tactics that suit him. Even in a side not playing tactics that suit him, Torres is good enough to carry the entire squad by being a play-maker while being a lone striker. You've played football, right? Then you know how difficult it is to put those two, vastly different tasks together, yet Torres is doing that job for us this season despite geniuses like yourself giving him stick and wanting him sold for being inadequate. Every match he walks off the pitch uninjured Roy Hodgson should be giving thanks to his deity of choice, because we'd be dead and buried without Torres's contribution this season.
And it doesn't matter whether or not Carlton Cole is a better support striker than N'Gog. You talking about changing to 4-4-2 hoofball ala Fat Sam, starting now with the season's halfway point rapidly approaching; which club do you support again? Sure sounds like you can't tell the difference between LFC and FFC.
You want Roy to manage us, therefore you are enamoured with his 8-10 men behind the ball route one bolx, and are willing to destroy the entire squad to see it happen. Your argument and solution have no basis in reality. Changing a team designed to attack by keeping the ball on the floor, by making them defend and counter in the air is oil and water, mate. Replacing the squad will require hundreds of millions of pounds, and we can see from the Man City and Real Madrid experiments just how well this goes unless you are extremely careful what you buy. Given how careful Roy was while buying Konchesky and Poulsen, I doubt he would do anywhere near as good a job as the Man City managers over the past two seasons. And having built this hoofball squad for hundreds of millions of pounds you've now recreated Blackburn.
What a brilliant plan!
No, it fcking isn't.
