he doesn't score enough goals and touch is heskey like might not score alot of goals but could prove the perfect foil for Darren Bent, much like Beardsley did for Lineker all those years ago.

for the millionth time, we DO NOT need another striker. We DO need someone to support the one we have (who is the only person keeping us afloat right now). We DO need width. Put these facts together and you realize we need a winger. Anyone. But at least someone with experience in the position, and worthy of a price tag above 10 million pounds (now that we may have actual investment in the squad for once it would be nice to sign a player who IS actually good rather than someone we hope might become good one day before we sell him).
And THEN we need a left back. Not some joke signed because he knows the manager and has home grown status; a guy who can actually play well in the position. Again, someone worthy of a price tag above 10 million pounds. Are we even looking for such a player? I guarantee you we are not. Apparently Konchesky, Aurelio, and Agger are good enough left backs for LFC; this is a serious oversight.
If we still have money left after buying these two players (and selling Babel and Poulsen - assuming anyone actually wants either of them) then let's see what we can do on the other flank (or just pick Gerrard there and buy more players for the academy).
Can we stop with the striker talk now? It doesn't matter whether we play 4-5-1 or 4-4-2, we need wide players and a left back SIGNIFICANTLY more than another striker, and DEFINITELY NOT at the cost of Torres. Go educate yourselves about the game of football instead of blabbering on like fools.

Agreed, we don't need a striker as much as wide players. Kuyt can quite easily move back inside to his favoured position if a proper right winger is signed. This will give experienced back up to Torres, whilst allowing N'Gog to mature and learn his trade.

Have to agree that we need wingers. [oops] with another striker. Its good to have but since we are in a tight budget, might as well focus on left back, Defensive midfield and the wings. The rest of the position is ok imo.

Totally disagree with you thundyr. How many proven strikers does our closest rivals have?
Spurs: (crouch, defoe, pav, keane) arsenal: (v.persie, chamakh, bendtner) united: (rooney, berbaflop, chikirito, owen, macheda) chelsea: (drogba, anelka) city: (tevez, adebayor, santa cruz, ballotili)
Those are all proven strikers that can change a game quickly. We dont have anyone that can change the game now apart from Torres and ofcourse stevie who is out. You can't consider babel, ngog, or even kuyt as strikers, they are just not good enough. Everyone knows we need width but having just one proven striker in a big club like this is just suicidal and unacceptable. We need wingers but striker is also a big issue we have in the past few years.

Well, according to the news page, we've been offered Adebayor. No price quoted and I know he's a bit hit and miss but would have him over the 'New Heskey' any day.

yes good call thundyr. how educated you are in the game..lets stick with one striker at the club ,cause that worked out so well for us last year. And the money comes from where? Answer that question before you think you're the clever one. Perhaps you should consider that we have bigger holes than striker, where N'Gog, Kuyt, Babel, and Jovanovic would happily play as a second striker to Torres in 4-4-2, and N'Gog has hardly under-performed so far this season leading the line partnered with Cole. Let's not ignore Pacheco either. Point is, we have a lot of players who can play in this position at a decent enough standard for now. But how many wingers and quality left backs do we have? Zero and zero. So yeah, let's spend all our money on another aging and/or average striker so we can play more route 1 ball, cos that's clearly where we're lacking. Fool.

Totally disagree with you thundyr. How many proven strikers does our closest rivals have? You weren't paying attention. Without investment the 'keeping with the Jonses' attitude cannot sustain a club. You're all talking about how bad we are when Torres doesn't play, but no one is looking at how bad we are even when Torres does play. I'd rather we made a concerted effort to get a strong first IX before worrying about the bench, even if the manager can't keep all of our strongest 11 players fit at the same time. How many times has the Roy Brigade said he's "rebuilding"? Well, I'll tell you that the way you build a good house is by starting with the foundation, not the roof or the pretty windows. We can go after backup strikers when we have a side that is not obviously lacking in several other positions first.
