You are wrong! Broughton was our saviour. Purslow just said yes to the takeover along with Ayre. And you think Roy is the future? I would like you then to write me a list of all the good things Purslow did...

Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say

'We're Liverpool'.

He sold Nemeth and Dalla Valle too! Just to point out, I believed Rafa should've gone in the summer. I wasn't a Rafa fan till I die kinda person.

i think christian purslow was just trying to protect kenny daglish's reputation, after all he is the ambassador of lfc. imagine him getting the same sort of results as hodgson week in week out. it would be tragic to hear the fans calling for his head and lets face it... most of the players haven't performed this season. to think kenny would be the man to help us challenge for honours again is just nostalgic desperation.

jovanovic was signed by benitez long before hodgson was in charge. we were also linked with danny wilson for a long time before he took charge too so i think the scouting staff played a major part in that transfer. how is wilson a bad signing though? especially if you cherish unproven youngsters so much? dalle valle and nemeth are hardly world beaters are they? theres probably a good reason why they never featured under rafa.

hodgson did always say in pre-season he would only sign the right players, he wasn't going to spend just for the sake of it and i respect him for that. these days you get what you pay for, especially with strikers. remember in the summer we were in a crisis and he had about 5/6 positions to fill with the money that was made available to him.

ok poulsen has been a very poor signing and tbh we didnt want him either. on paper paul konchesky is a far better player than emilano insua but he has also been poor this season. steve finnan came from fulham when the club was even smaller than it is now and he was a good liverpool player, konchesky just hasn't performed. joe cole who you missed is also in the same boat. considering the situation in the summer though i think its quite fair to say roy hodgson did quite well with the resources available to him.

Good point. But Cole was free though. Wilson was as unproven as Dalla Valle was though. Plus, I remember Hodgson in an interview saying that he was impressed by Insua and wanted to keep him but he wasn't in control of the transfers. And if we did have to cut wages, at least choose to sell some rubbish, overpaid players.

cole may have been free, but he still managed to land him even though there were so many clubs interested in his signature. also there are signing on fee's and agent fee's that become inflated in a bosman deal because there is no transfer fee involved.

yea but in the same sense dalle valle / nemeth haven't won any awards. danny wilson was named young scottish player of the year last season and for a player of his age earning his first cap for the club signals a gulf in quality between the players mentioned. he featured a full season in the first team making appearances in europe.

as for insua he is over payed and rubbish. just because he's young doesn't mean he is good or ever will be good. he was poor for liverpool last season and less experienced than konchesky. he turned down an offer at florentina for somewhere in the region of over £30k a week. is he really that good... to dictate contract negotiations like that? i don't think he is and the sooner we get rid the better imo

at the end of the day though mate you can't pin any blame on christian purslow. he was brought in as a financial director and had to be an executive for one of the biggest football clubs in the world. i'm not saying that he wasn't maybe a little out of his depth... but he came through in the end and i believe liverpool fans should respect that. shouldn't be looking at pointing the finger at an individual, there have been a vast series of poor decisions made by the club as a collective over the last few years (from owners to previous owners etc) but the sh!t had already hit the fan long before christian purslow was appointed
