But just thought Id raise it in here. Reports saying we will use Xabi Alonso money (IF he is sold!) to buy David Villa to partner Torres up front with gerrard dropping in midfield.

I think it's fairly safe to assume that we WON'T be getting Villa now then, as that scumbag rag ONLY tell lies and report on fictions of their imagination.

I don't think £30 million would be enough anyway. As soon as we approach Valencia, Chelski would come in with £50 million.

* Villa covered but the Spanish papers are quoting a report from today's S*n newspaper. There are no Spanish-based reports suggesting we have an interest as yet.

* Alonso - Real prepared to up their offer to 30m and rumours suggest Benitez will accept. Also suggestions that there would be an extra 1m payment based on some clause if triggered. Spanish journos reporting that both Milan clubs have expressed and interest along with Chelsea and Man City but that there is a gentleman's agreement with Real that they have first option. It's also reported that this is because Real Madrid agreed to drop their interest in an un-named target that Benitez wants with suggestions that both clubs were chasing Villa and Silva a few months back.

then the un-named could turn out to be villa or silva?

he might plan to bring villa in, and drop gerrad back to the mid-field..if thats the case, then where would aquilani fit then, if he came in
