Once he starts to understand football a bit more im sure he will start to have a bit of a problem with us playing the blandest football in the premiership. I doubt they bought us to be bored sensless every week as we sit back at home against every European, Premiership and football league minnow. Where were all these types of comments about boring, bland football under Benitez then? thats what I want to know, why was a win is a win allrite for Benitez but not for Roy. IN ROY WE TRUST...

pity cause he had the opportunity to turn is into a barca style team alas he was obsessed by the opposition and the need to have workhorses over style. roy trying to change things and the sheep are kicking up Oh yeah, I mean, if you had a team of workhorses and wanted to bring back the style, the first thing you'd do is sign a player like Poulsen. Obviously.

no you wouldn't and roy has a bit of that, i need a dickson etuhu type, about him. but given the money rafa got he will sign better players in offensive positions and play them there. rafa bought poor players and turned them all into defenders I fully agree, lets judge Roy when he has been given the same time and funds as Benitez and not before, even the most biased Benitez backer must surely agree that thats's the fairest way.

right up your street . hardly surprising What I have found on forums generaly is that when people start calling names it means they have lost the debate, so I would'nt worry about them calling names myself, you have proved your point so dont worry.

I think you'll find that Emperor Hodge is fond of a little name calling himself (nothing wrong with that, blooody funny sometimes), however, He's not proved a point on here since his infamous" Roy will be better than shanks and paisly put together with a heathy dollop of Fagan on the side", I'm waiting with baited breath on that one! Poor man will have to get past christmas first mind.

I fully agree, lets judge Roy when he has been given the same time and funds as Benitez and not before, even the most biased Benitez backer must surely agree that thats's the fairest way. But Benitez had no funds for two full seasons, and in fact it can be argued that he had less than 0 pounds in his budget the window during which he sold Alonso. I might not think Roy is going to buy anything good with the money, but I certainly wouldn't want to continue to test him under sell-to-buy, because he will almost certainly offload Agger which would be a tragedy. So for me all we can go on was the last transfer window - Poulsen (fail), Cole (jury still out), Meireles (looks a good signing), Konchesky (average player, weak signing given the time Roy had to line up someone great, may have paid too much as well but that's splitting hairs), Wilson (don't know haven't seen him). As for time - Houllier and Benitez had solid starts to their LFC careers. Nothing spectacular to be sure, but certainly nothing as obviously startling as finding ourselves 19th on goal difference after 8 EPL games! Our football under especially Benitez was at times awful, but never for extended spells like this. The point being that there was nothing to suggest Houllier or Benitez were not the people for the job. But Roy hasn't looked the part since the loss at Eastlands, and while we've remained unbeaten in Europa Cup primarily given the poor quality of our opposition we simply haven't played anything resembling LFC quality football. There was never a reason to sack the other managers this early - they played their part, and generally improved. Hit the ground running, start the way you intend to continue; an LFC tradition. By comparison, Roy immediately put us in the hurt locker, and it's looking like he's not even going to emulate Rafa's worst season at this stage (never mind his first) without completely turning his back on his 35 years of experience (a history that almost certainly was a major factor in signing him in the first place).

I fully agree, lets judge Roy when he has been given the same time and funds as Benitez and not before, even the most biased Benitez backer must surely agree that thats's the fairest way. This is stupid. Lets say we got relegated from the premiership, and then relegated form the championship the next year, would you still think we should wait 6 years to judge Hodgson because rafa had that?! Don't be naive. You compare your manager with the previous manager during his first season. Maybe Hodgson could have more time, perhaps at least one season before we compare fairly. But bear in mind that if we wait until the end of the season and compare Hodgson to Rafa, Hodgson will have to finish 5th and win the European Cup, and be runners up in league cup just to match Benitez. And remember, it was decided that Benitez was sacked for not being good enough, i.e. we want someone better than Rafa. Hodgson is already out of the league cup and didn't get a chance to play in the champ league. So I think it fair that we expect Hodgson to finish 5th, win the europa league, and get runners up int he FA cup for him to be almost as good as Rafa (who was not good enough). If at any time it is obvious Hodgson won't achieve this, then in all fairness he should be removed. Do you really think he'll achieve 5th or better, europa win, FA cup runners up? You have got it all wrong, for Roy to improve on the previous manager he has to improve on the previous managers last season not his first, which means better than 7th league wise and better than the third round of the F.A.Cup, Benitez got us to the semi final of the Europa league but fell at the first hurdle in the group stages of the Champions league. If you listened to what the new owner has said he said it's going to be a gradual thing instead of a quick fix so lets judge Roy after a few seasons when he has been given the right time and money to call the team his own. IN ROY WE TRUST...

Reclaim, if you want to compare him to Rafa's final season, then again that's your choice (although that is comparing him to the manager's worst season, not his average season).
But you want to compare to that. So if Roy finishes 7th and semi finals in the europa league, then he deserves to be sacked. Because Rafa was sacked for that. In fact Rafa was likely to be sacked for any finish below 4th. So to be fair, if Roy gets us into the champions league and gets semi final in europa league or better, then ok, you can make a case that he deserves to stay. Anything worse, and he would deserve the sack.
As it stands, he is doing worse in the league and worse in the league cup. We're still waiting to see how the FA cup goes and how the europa league will go, but so far it isn't looking good that he'll get 4th But it's still not fair is it, Benitez last season was his sixth in charge while Roy will of only been in a job for one season, If Roy achieves the same as Benitez does after 6 seasons then I fully expect him to be sacked, so we will have to wait until Roy's sixth season before we known whose right, thats about fair dont you think.
