was it just me or did anyone leave anfield feeling like we have a real star on our hands here? his tackling was of different class tenacious,up for it, and non stop effort.

i was unsure of him last couple of seasons however he has come on leaps and bounds and in my opinion he should deffinatly be above poulsen and possibly lucas in the pecking order

his effort was second to none....

but his passing ability was just none..

i lost count how many times he gave the ball away.

i like him though and hopes he gets games. id take him over poulsen and lucas

I think taking him over Lucas is a bit much, there's a reason why Lucas gets picked for brazil.

Anyway, spearing ain't good enough, I urge you to watch the game again, see how many tackles he puts in and how many misplaced passes he makes. He was awful last night, to small and to lightweight to make it, and more importantly, not good enough

My opnion of spearing has always been he would be good for a championship side or maybe league 1, prem is abit much for him i think.

Agreed, plus I can't stand him aswell(which isn't effecting my football judgement), just got one of them faces and seems a gobby little shiiiit for someone who hasn't even made a name for himself yet

He's good just as a backup, we definitely need to bring a big gun in midfield

Spearing looked head and shoulders above Shelvey last night. I worry for Shelvey if thats the level of his ability. Talk about having no pace?! I know he's a kid and all that but he looked lost night which isnt my main concern its the fact he appears so slow.

Spearing is solid, but limited. He could definitely have a future in the Championship or even a mid/bottom EPL side, but he's short an ace to be a permanent fixture for Liverpool.

Shelvey on the other hand needs time, not just as a footballer but as a person. Maturity and experience are everything at this level, so the more chances he gets now, the better for LFC.
