When we first appointed him as boss. I was happy but still curious to see how well he would do.

And i would be lying if i said that having endured the troubled start to the season i wouldn't want Rijkaard to come in and takeover.

However. I am going to throw my support behind Roy.Because of numerous things.

1) He will be given the option of signing players at a higher level. Rather then the bargain basement. Poulsen,Konchesky would not have been signed if cash was available.

2) He is extremely passionate about proving himself at Liverpool. The statement that he would never resign shows how committed he is. Along with the support of Gerrard and Carragher.

3) He has the Balls to play the Youth. We've seen this on numerous occasions. Napoli is another example. Spearing,Shelvey,Kelly

ooh! cant agree! Roy wouldn't be capable of buying a class player and i don't think he knows how to manage top players of today, the only thing hes passionate about is safeguarding his 3 million exit cheque, and he only plays the youngsters because he is terrified of injury to the top players, frown

Oz, I understand your feeling, I think some people would want to stick with Hodgson a little bit longer however the football we've seen is horrible and not to mention his interaction with the media is on a coninual bases which got me and others thikning all the time. What I want from him, if he is staying for a bit longer is to say the truth, he said we played well against everton when we didint touch the ball for 80mins. Also his football must improve, more attacking when we;re in Anfield just as we are today against Blackburn. I think we all want Hodgson to be succesful and punish this early crapy start but deep down, I think its impossible. I will support him until he is gone but right now, he must improve drastically.

Great to be optimistic. However I think most of your points are a bit suspect when you look at them another way.
Start with number 2 Do you really think he is passionate about proving himself anywhere (especially pool)? His main defence is that he is a proven manager with a record taht most people don't even check, from all over the world in football. He refuses to adapt his 'system' to our players who are not fulham donkeys.Do you think a manager who was hailed as 'pragmatic' with an ultra defensive philosophy, and who comes to a team hailed for its emphasis on steam rollering opponents or at least on playing attractive football, deserves to be given any money if he refuses to adapt or at least play them in correct postion?.

The statement that he will never resign suggests to me that he is in defence mode battening down the hatches and refusing to 'budge'. It does not mean he is committed to winning anything other than 3 million quid for an 8 month holiday before his retirement kicks in

The support of carragher in my opinion was aimed at stabalising the club and with the intention of keeping wayward gerard there. I don't know what was said to carragher or gerard but player power seems to have increased dramatically since hodgson arrived and I don't like to see anyone even gerard given too much influence in what goes on off the pitch? Hodgson is going to suffer from being too liberal with the stars and it will be his undoing? The support of the 2 gerard and caragher is largely because hodgson is a weak manager looking for allies in the team. He thinks he can patronise fans by patting the two on the back after every game even when carragher is having a mare of a season like the end of the last one. Hodgson is doing damage to the team morethan we suffered under rafa.

For your first point. He has signed miereles (a good signing) Poulson was not cheap at 4m, and konckesky well we paid 3 million too much for him) You can find many players of higher quality for 2 million in the nationwide league. Cash was available and giving him the benefit of the doubt (with cole mereles he has done fair on transfers). However when he puts them in the wrong position and favours his immoblie juventus reject in the team, then that for me says he would have bought him for 30 million if he were 2 years younger because he is blind to the fact that he is no longer at fulham. There for i would only give him fulham money.

He has no balls. Re blaming youth for northampton town. He plays them more than rafa. Why not kelly over carragher at full back? We get hammered every match at fullback position why play someone who doesnt like playing there
I think you like hodgson are watching another team
I am only divided by how much time he will get i want him out 3 weeks ago but he may get to january that will be a catastrophe

He needs to go, the players arnt happy with him either. Being proffessional or not, footballers need to have good morale, and if you have no confidence in his methods it's bye bye to the manager.

Just on the point about having money to sign players at a higher level... forget about the big spenders for a moment, Roy had more money to spend than a lot of other Premier League teams - other teams that are now ahead of us and playing much better football.

There seems to be this idea that we need to spend loads to compete. And maybe that's true if we're talking about competing for the title. But right now we're not in the top six and struggling to keep up with the top four, we're not even competing to be in the top half of the table.

We're on 6 points from 8 games, 18th, in the relegation zone. If we win today, we might move up to the heady heights of... 17th. But only if we beat Blackburn by a three goal margin. Otherwise we'd still be 18th.

The squad Roy has and the money he has spent are more than sufficient to be competing at least in the top half of the table. The money can't be blamed for the extent of our current struggles, it's quite obviously Roy. He's got us playing like Fulham. Except Fulham are better at it.

Please get this right. I am not saying Hodgerson is the best manager in the world. His not. I agree with you all that a club of our standard should be looking at other options.

But he should be given support. His came in after a world cup and in the middle of a messy sale of a club.

I disagree with his transfer signings! Konchesky and Poulsen would not have been signed if he was backed 100% in the transfer market.

Out of the 6 signings. 4 I beleave were good signings. Joe Cole Proven international,Premier league experience. On a free.

Raul Meireles Quality player. Has'nt fully settled in but he is holding his own.

Danny Wilson. One for the future. Brad Jones brought in as a backup for Riena. has experience in English football.

His two worst signings will be Konchesky and Poulsen. Everybody in the land new Liverpool were after a left back and a holding midfielder. Thats why we have paid those prices.

Once again. I don't beleave Roy is the manager to win us the league. However he deserves alot more support then his getting right now.

Fair point i don't think he deserves wanton abuse . But there are manythings which don't add up and I think the fact that he uses 'liverpool never sack their managers' to his advantage means he doesnt have liverpool at heart. Liverpool have never had a manager who shàt on them from what I can recall. The thing on the official site about the 12th man he thinks fans are all mugs! Why do we need 12 th man to beat a p1ss poor side who shouldnt be in the premiership. He's using all hte clichés i bet he did it at inter as well. Well roys fast running out of excuses. I would support anyone who had interests of liverpool at heart but this guy hasn't i am convinced of it

The only thing I'm divided on is whether I actually want liverpool to win today. As far as I'm concerned Hodgson deserves every bit of abuse he's getting. I don't know if I can actually bring myself to NOT support us today, in the end I probably wouldn't be able to do it, but he needs to go, and us scraping a few points here and there over the next few games is only delaying the inevitable. He is a clueless windbag who's playing the worst football I've ever seen (and that includes GED and Souness) and who is lying through his teeth telling us about 'great performances' at Goodison and Napoli. Brian Reade is a great Red and he stopped following liverpool under Souness, he just couldn't handle it anymore and stopped going until Souness was gone. I have to admit if Blackburn win today I wouldn't be devastated if it meant we were finally rid of this moron.

I think his just defending himself and we are perhaps looking to close into his comments.

Any comments his made in the last week or so people have jumped straight on his back.

Unfortunatly people have already painted a bad picture of him and whatever he says his gonna be looked at doing poorly.

A bit of luck with two results and he would be looked at in a different light. Riena Drops the ball against Arsenal we drop 2 points.

We fight from 2 goals behind showing great character to draw level against United. Only to concede and drop all the points.
