he is only in the fecking door, has spent no money and is working. ok he has been crap some far but just leave off him for a bit
He has spent money (some signings were obviously in progress before he arrived, but Poulsen is all his for example). And he's not working. And he's not only just in the door either. He's been here over three months now. Here's a summary of his results so far:
Grasshoppers (A) / 0-0 / D / friendly
FC Kaiserslautern (A) / 1-0 / L / friendly
Rabotnicki (A) / 0-2 / W / Europa
Borussia M'gladbach (A) / 1-0 / L / friendly
Rabotnicki (H) / 2-0 / W / Europa
Arsenal (H) / 1 - 1 / D / Premier
Trabzonspor (H) / 1-0 / W / Europa
Man City (A) / 3-0 / L / Premier
Trabzonspor (A) / 1-2 / W / Europa
West Brom (H) / 1-0 / W / Premier
Birmingham (A) / 0-0 / D / Premier
Steaua (H) / 4-1 / W / Europa
Man Utd (A) / 3-2 / L / Premier
Northampton (H) / 2-2 (lost on penalties) / L / Carling Cup
Sunderland (H) / 2-2 / D / Premier
FC Utrecht (A) / 0-0 / D / Europa
Blackpool (H) / 1-2 / L / Premier
Everton (A) / 2-0 / L / Premier
Napoli (A) / 0-0 / D / Europa
That's 16 games excluding friendlies. And his record so far across all competitions?
6 won 5 drawn 5 lost.
Two of those wins were against Rabotnicki (currently 6th in Macedonia), one against Steaua (currently 6th in Romania), two against Trabzonspor, and one against West Brom. Not exactly the most impressive list.
And what's more, not only do we not seem to be getting better, we seem to be getting worse the longer he's in charge!
But don't get me wrong. I have every confidence that, given enough time, Roy could manage to get the team to aspire to the levels of mid-table mediocrity. Yes, if we give him more time we could be almost as good as Fulham were last season! But I'd like to think we were aiming a bit higher than that...
