This is the problem, he has entirely the wrong mentality to be a Liverpool manager, we want a winner!! thats all he wants to do will win an get us to the top, i want someone who will vow and carry out to make us a "bastion of invincibility" once again.

We have the owners now, and we defo have the fans, we just need the right man and we will be back on target to become kings of europe again. Hodgson needs!!! to go tho, i like the man he seems sound but he hasn't the ability to take the rains at such a illistrious club as ours were the demand for victory and attractive football is very high.

There must be a manager that had shankly as his role model... can we not find this fella and instate him, someone who knows the liverpool way and what the fans want. We need a manager with passion and liverpool red in his veins.

i have the perfect measure of how bad he is. we are all in agreement about him.

I think roy should stay till x-mas then make the changes.
I think Lippi should be considered along with Hitzfeld,
But please not king kenny his time was 20 years ago.
One more point to address is that the players have to take some Flack for the lack of fight and spirit since August 2009 and i believe the time has come for a complete over haul of this squad and a lot of people wont aggree but this would include carragher,Kuiyt,lucas,poulsen,maxi,Aqualani,Nggog,Babbel,Keryioakis,Elzaharr,Johnson,Degen,Konchesky,and Torres !.Had Shankley taken over now he would have told the like's of Carragher that his time was up !.

Posts: 76 I'm by no means a fan of Hodgson at the moment but I don't like this culture of ripping managers to shreds on a personal level. Why is so little criticism being directed at the players in all this?! I think an awful lot of managers would struggle in our position not just Roy.

I would like to throw a bit of petrol on the fire regarding this debate whether its roys fault or the players fault. Like most people I think it's a combination of the two. Like many people I think if nearly the entire team aren't performing there is a problem at management level.
In answer to the question 'why is so little criticism being directed towards the players?' I can argue only for my own comments and what I witness during the matches (on telly). The weaknesses of the players have been documented enough times and taking the case of poulson for example, if 99 percent of posters agree that the guy should not be in the team, and he is persistantly played, who can you blame? Can you blame poulson? He is doing his best, laugh as you will, if there is one person in that team who wants to justtify himself it is poulson (being brought in especially by hodgson) So in his case I wouldnt say he is 'picking up his wages' he is just (yet another)bad buy. SO if we can't blame Hodgson who do we blame. Then you have a choice Benitez, Purslow, Roy evans, Graham Souness. No I don't buy it, there is only one person responsible for persistantly playing a mediocre player and that is the manager.
Second point is most of the people on here who have a go at hodgson have a go at the playeers anyway.
There are a (large) minority of players underperforming. The question is why? I c an identify maybe 3 that are surely 'picking up the wage cheque'
Torres, jonshon and babel Torrest however I defend still, as he has conducted himself better than rooney and has a team and service a lot worse than rooney. The shrugged shoulders thing well he did a lot of that last season and while he was nicking goals or injured no one complained too much.
The rest are trying I dont think joe cole came to liverpool to play rubbish football or just pick up his cheque. Miereles plays well albeit out of position . Carragher well age is catching up with him. Agger not even in team . Ngog for me is a typical french forward not aggressive enough but has a bit of skill and certainly is not a person who doese not try. Who can be blamed next the greek? Does he not try? the full back konchesky I ahve seen better kelly for example but does he not try is he lazy. Where are all these bad lazy players I count 2 johnson and babbel and for those who dont appreciate torres sulking its 3.
3 bad players and who is picking them/ allowing them to influence the others ? Hodgson?

thats why i dont waste time picking on players. Hodgson is not stupid when he says 'torres is lacking confidence' he is really saying. Blame this individual it is not my fault . My system works.. Well I don't fall for that football is about teams and collective confidence and roy doesnt and never will instill that

do you know what Flames you have never been so right. Rafa generally split the fans with most regretting his departure but knew his time was up. Every fan I talked to at anfield before the Blackpool match had the game as his watershed. If we went for it then maybe more time, but the manner of defeat was worse than than the result. Goodbye Mr Hodgson.
I had more regrets over Souness leaving and the players were worse.
