It really baffles me that people make out benitez is whiter than white and all the clubs woes are down to H&G and hodgson , benitez was very much part of the clubs problems and yes hodgson cannot seem to rectifiy the slide but there no doubt this is a massive hangover of benitez and his ineptness and stubborness still in effect

It seems even longer away now that it actually is, you wouldn't believe a club could slide from champions of europe to were we are now if someone told you it could happen.

You would have to witness it wth your own eyes, thats what we are doing right now, witnessing something that 5 years ago if someone said in 5 years you will be out of europe, have a mid-table manager and be sat deep in the relegation zone we would have all said dont be so stupid and just laughed.

We were heading in the right direction, we thought the glory days were on the verge of returning and this was just the beginning?? we picked up a few trophies after that so it wasnt asif it went down hill from there. But it just amazes me to think how has this happened to are club.

We were feared in Europe.. after finishing second that season we were tipped by many people including some mancs to pick up were we left off and take the title the following season. But something happened then, was it purely and simply down to us losing possibly are most important player in xabi alonso? i knew alonso was a class act but after losing him i relalised really how much impact he had on the way we played. Now you look again after losing Masch.. is this another factor that has dropped us deeper again? i think so, i think the better players in our squad relaise there isn't enough quality around them including there manager to actually do much. On losing alonso and masch, who were 2 of our best players it shows we have done nothing but taken step backwards and non going forwards.

Robbie fowler said something interesting on sunday, he said that the Leeds team that he was in and they were relegated he considered a better team to the Liverpool squad at the moment. Were does that leave us, i can only think if Robbie is right that unless there is some massive changes we could be looking at the same fate.

This is what Dossena said of Benitez after he left, and then you wonder why some of us are unhappy that we replaced him with hodgson!!

Former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has explained what Juventus can expect if they sign Spanish coach Rafael Benitez in the summer.

It's been widely reported that Benitez is the number one target at Vinovo to replace Alberto Zaccheroni at the end of the season. And Dossena, who played for Benitez between July 2008 and January 2010, has given an insight into his methods of coaching and style.

"Benitez loves dialogue and he works hard on tactics. In the car park, on the plane, Benitez never wastes a moment. He uses every second to give an indication and explain positions on the pitch," he told Tuttosport.

"He is always clear and gets straight to the point in the dressing room, but balanced too. He always uses a calm approach, and there was never an episode where he raised his voice."

However, there was one occasion when Benitez blew his top.

"It happened once, but I was not there. My former team-mates told me that Benitez went berserk in Florence after Liverpool lost in the Champions League [against Fiorentina]."

And, Benitez uses several ways to get his message accross to the players.

"He uses the blackboard and plenty of videos. He is a maniac when it comes to analysing the play. He always dedicates plenty on free-kicks and corners. In England it's always good to take advantage of situations where the ball is inactive," he concluded.

some people here will not buy this story as they only believe what the tabloids or the so-called experts, ex-players said instead

theres one thing about rafa he loves the club and did his very best he had us in champs league every season apart from last and under rafa we were 1 of 5 of the best teams in europe for 3 seasons, yes he head his faults and made mistakes but we wouldent be in bottom in prem under rafa and look at the players he tryed to sign but couldent due to no moneys swp simao alves david villa david silva all these players are of quality. he was also the only manager that would give fergie some stick even if it back fired, look how far backwards we have gone since he left, and i thought it was time he left the club was rafa the golden years we will see.
