His positional awareness is often poor, and he needs to start playing on the shoulder of the last man, not dropping deep. His game needs improving, it's not all about service, he needs to be in the right position first, which he often isn't.

Agree with you to a point but it generally is the lack of service, he's not getting the ball upto him so automaticalg he's going to want to drop deep to get it. I think some people on here need to get a grip and start looking at the picture of why where not winning games, it's not torres fault he's getting [oops] balls played into him. It's the way where set up and told to play

I cant believe what I am reading with some of these posts defending this sh*thouse. Listen people, you need to start growing a backbone instead of making excuses for this guy, if it was down to just bad form then fine but it's not, when you are playing poorly you work your socks off to put this right and this man for whatever reason wont do this. People say he needs service well thats rubbish too, you make your own luck in games through shear hardwork even if things are not going well, if you want to look at a feller who works his socks off look at Tevez, he known nine of his pointless runs will result in nothing but his tenth will result in a goal or good chance. The reason our club has gone backwards in the last twenty odd years is because we have lived off the back of past success and have shown far too much sentiment, this is apparant with people defending a player like Torres who gets paid 120k a week, is idolised around the world yet cant be bothered putting in the effort because he is sulking because he had a disasterous world cup which cost him a move to a big club, Stop Defending this waster.

yep they should all carry the can at the moment,when we return to form and if he is still at it then he is open to criticism.The media are blaming Torres for the players and managers failings and some supporters are buying it.

Torres doesnt want to be at the Club and is not even trying thats why he deserves what he;s getting, body language stinks and he wants f*ckin for putting country before club last season.

If you play for the spanish team and you have villa silva xavi iniesta alonso and may other to pass to and your day job is looking at lucas and poulsen konchesky etc ... well you'd be dispirited -

Rubbish mate, you could pick any player in the entire world and he wouldn't be scoring for us, the problem is in the tactics and lack of creativity. People want him right up top waiting for the pass, they want him in the hole to make things happen, they want him dropping deep working his socks off. Hodgson admits Torres is struggling mentally and that he needs to score a couple of goals to regain his confidence.

"He got battered in the World Cup for his performances for Spain and I think mentally he's a little bit low and he needs a goal or two to get his confidence back," said Hodgson.
