It doesn't matter how much money we get from the sale of these players, but whether the manager is capable of signing the players we desperately need, and by that I mean whether he is capable of recognizing where we are short and who is capable of filling that role. I think that even with all the money in the world our current manager will fail us during the next transfer season unless we get owners with a clue (and/or a new manager).
Bang on, giving this manager the money would simply be a waste of it and loose the momentum investment could bring us.
i disagree with you both there, i think the manager did pretty well in the transfer window considering the sources available to him. thats 1 of the things i will give him credit for.
remembering that jovanovic was benitez's signing i think he did quite well. fair enough masch wanted out and poulsen seems like a stop gap signing... but individually cole, merieles and konchesky have improved the quality of the squad.
merieles was really his only big money signing and i dont think he did too badly, we got a fully fledged international player who i think will prove to be a really good player for us given time.
benayoun was sold before he arrived, aquilani was probably the one of worst signings in the clubs history and insua was totally out his of his depth
