Sorry if this has been covered in other threads but i'm being lazy and not trawling through them all.
What do we all think this legal battle is about and how likely are the 2 cnuts to win? I find it hard to believe that all this news and statements would be out there if there was a chance that H & G could win but I just have a nasty feeling that they might.

Just heard on the radio a reporter saying he'd been e-mailing Hicks and that Hicks was saying that he re-shaped the board in a legal way blah blah. Why don't he just go quietly with some dignity? He can't afford to keep the club and he won't get what he wants for it. I just don't understand what must be going on in his head!

Statement from Broughton about new owners and the interwiev in which he explained what happend in the board meeting was IMO very clever - just imagine that H&G stop the sale now...: -despite finding new owners by the board, -despite letting only Broughton to change the board squad It's like they signed death sentence! If nobody new what happend - it could work for them - but it is official - they try to stop the sale process - Broughton admit that - so it's not just a rumor...I'm convinced the sale will be compleated soon...what will happend then - time will tell - but it can't get worse, can it?

From what Broughton has been saying, it's essentially pretty straight-forward:
A majority of the board can approve a sale, and they have. Broughton is the only one who can change the board (this is apparently written in the terms, H & G can't change the board, despite their efforts to do just that). And with the publicity the sale has had and with the two competing bids, H & G aren't going to be able to argue that the sale undervalues the club.
Basically, when Broughton was appointed it was ensured that he would be able to do his job and sell the club without H & G changing their mind and refusing to sell if they didn't like the eventual result.
So unless there's a loophole somewhere - which seems unlikely given that efforts were made to prevent exactly that - H & G have no chance.

Martin Broughton , Purslow and Ayre could have easily caved in and allowed Hicks to take over , but Broughton Must have been in his right and must have Had legal advice on this to put his neck on the line , I think the court case should be a formality could be wrong about that but i think and can't see Broughton putting himself in the firing line if his legal position was not clear , Listen people Martin broughton is not just some idiot dragged off the street he is a highly respected top troubleshooter and business man and i would find it hard to believe he would leave himself wide open .

I think in terms of the sale it will be over quickly but H&G may bring the club to court independantly to try and gain some of the money they are about to lose back.
What do you mean my birth certificate expired?
