I don't remember Tomkins ever having something bad to say about the manager before. Granted, I haven't read all his columns, but he towed the party line all through last season when frankly we were a disgrace. This article is very different.

I know why Tomkins says the fans haven't warmed to Roy either. Not only did most of the fans want King Kenny, they also see Roy failing to deliver much of anything other than excuses week in and week out. He makes a talented squad play like schoolboys, and ignores the younger players who might solve one or two first team headaches. He is also stubborn to a fault.

His comment against Northampton sums it up really. He said "he looked to the bench to see who could change the game and could find no one". Well, you picked the team, buddy, and your lack of substitution in other games suggests you have no plan B ever. Rafa built this team to attack, and now you're trying to make it defend! Do you even know what you've inherited? You bought Raul (a central midfielder) to play on the wing! You bought Cole to play in the hole to feed Torres, but never play him there when they are picked together! Do you have any clue whatsoever?

All this talk just shows how little Roy is wanted. I've never seen this before at LFC. The thing is, people are saying "give him a chance", It's sadly not going to change. Roy has played his Football like this all his managerial career FULL STOP.

Rafas hands were tided, for most of his tender, But can you see any Liverpool board saying to Roy "there's 20 million go out and strengthen the team". NOW all the people who are sticking for for Roy If you can't answer yes to this your fooling yourself

yes very nice very good and credit was put his way and rightly so , but also he needed the brickbats as well as the bouquets and he nver got it when he well deserved it , he was part of the problem just as much as anyone , unfortunately how much we all love winning in istanbul its turned into a massive milestone around the clubs neck , because now hodgson like or hate him was on a hiding to nothing before a ball was kicked in anger , liverpool could have had an ok start still wouldn't have been good enough , but last seasons start getting blammed out of the CL getting beat by arsenal reserves in the league cup was poor and benitez got none of the blame ,but suddenly it is the managers fault , ok hodgson could end up being not one of the best but on the other hand he could do ok but to just dismiss his chances already after 4 or 5 months is just disgracful .

I don't want to hear the manager telling me to lower my expectations when my only real expectation is that we play either attractive or effective football. Generally, one of these attributes coupled with class players the likes of which we have in the squad will either lead us near the top of the game or will woo the crowds to such an extent that silverware is not always required (look at Arsenal). In these circumstances loss of form is not a catastrophe, and patience is easy to come by.

I don't want to hear the manager telling me to lower my expectations when Championship sides who should be coming to Anfield praying to not lose by a dozen goals are instead coming here with a realistic chance of taking 3 points!

We have a plodding manager who thinks British is best, when (no offense) the British haven't been best since '66. I keep hoping that Roy will find the secret ingredient that he's been missing all along, but the truth is that there is no secret ingredient; if there was, one would have thought he'd have discovered it in his 30+ years of managing experience. He excels with average teams in trouble, not with top teams needing to kick on. As such his sights are set low by default, and he's dragging us down to his level. We should be going out there to win, but it's clear we only playing to not lose. Liverpool has more pride than that!

We DO need to lower are expectations.
Very Hard and upsetting i know and understand.
But still we want to see attractive football being played.....
We deserve this.

You summed ut up there thundyr If Roy has been brought into average clubs in the past in times of trouble to settle the ship. He is at the right place for the time being. With the squad and disruption upstairs we have at the mo.
We need to settle the ship and bring it into port for it to be fixed.

HE IS NOT DRAGGING US DOWN TO HIS LEVEL.
WE FINISHED 7TH LAST SEASON
7TH Best Team in England..... Number One greatest club
If you want to think like that we were at his level last season under Rafa.

Totally agree with fazakerley, Its ridiclous how some fans want hodgson out after just 6 league games. More time is needed in order to judge him. I think there are a lot of problems going on with our team. Torres is not performing and has scored a single goal this season, our entire defensive line is being questioned. Our midfield is very disjointed as well. Those things should be and must be dealt by Roy Hodgson himself but he cannot control everything. He can put the players out there and decide the tactics but he doesn't control whether the player is going to perform on a consistent basis. It is also not his fault for having average squad players (maxi, babel, poulsen, jovanovic, lucas). He needs to stay until January atleast before we can call for his head.

Break it Roy. We need only loyal fans at LFC. There are many who need to switch teams. They cannot support their team at difficult times but they will support when in a cup final. Disloyal unfaithful bunch of fans.

In previous era we didn;t have fans who stick to players and managers (Rafa) who have already left the club. Our policy has always will be " whoever comes in or goes out but LFC will always be on there as our top priority".
