Yet you regard the calling of Mr Hodgson as sic. Woy as not showing respect. I realise that 'woy' must become annoying but I am only voicing my frustration at his performance thus far. I know there need to be moderators and moderators are not machines and the site shouldn't be too heavy but thats the pot calling the kettle black in one sense rather arbitrary moderation mon cher.

Sunderland tried to take the free kick early, ref pulled it back and indicated the spot for it to be taken from. The ball was knocked back there, the ref jogs up the pitch... Turner can't knock it back for it to be taken from somewhere else at that point. It's already in the right place. If they kick it, it's live.

Same as with corners, when teams try that 'tap the ball off the spot so it's live but hope the other team doesn't notice so they can catch them out' thing. If the other team sees what they're doing and get the ball, they can't say, "Oh, I wasn't taking the corner, I was just moving the ball for no reason".

Not that I think Sunderland were trying to be clever. It was bloody stupid really. But I think the ref did get it technically right.
