I think he needs time. I wasn't keen on his appointment and was downright nervous after the City game, but actually I can see that he's steadied the ship. We're not in great shape but it isn't like he's been here for any extended period; all he's had time to do is keep the shattered pieces together, not actually start putting them back into place yet. I'm worried about our next two fixtures, which must say something about my general unease at our current condition, and yet I'm enthusiastic too because we have the big guns who can carry the team to 6 points from two difficult away fixtures.
Frankly anyone who gives Roy less than a 9/10 for the transfer activity and Europa Cup start is fooling himself; we were in utter disarray and had no money, and to get through that with only a minor injury was impressive as hell. I even think Del Bosque would have played Torres for 90 against Lichetenstien and Argentina had Benitez been in charge. He's been less good in the EPL so far, but then again I think there won't be too many people who would disagree that we were handed the toughest start to the campaign of any team in the league (especially on this forum). So I'd give Roy a 7.5 so far, mainly due to the enormity of the task he had, but now he needs to show us that he can take the squad further.
