Ye i think hes a sort of all round midfielder, excellent passer of the ball is meant to be one of his attributes.

If I'm honest I hope his performances are at a better level than Stevie's have been for a while, I really think he was well below par last season.

he is a quality performer and a box to box player, hopefully he will drive us forward and not sideways.
Worried about Stevie again as apart from 20 minutes for England his performances are pretty average to say the least, needs to stop looking for the quick pass all the bloddy time and take two touches every now and then.

Maybe so jock... just remember tho form is temporary, class is permanent. And we all know Stevie has class in abundance.

Be positive!

after the year stevie has had to put up with under rafa and capello we cant blame him for being a bit less than the stevie we all know give him time to find his form again and watch the other teams watch in disbelieve at how good he and nando are again

Well I know Manure wanted him badly, but that's not necessairily a good thing - they have been trying to replace Scholes/Keane for years!

From what I've read (I have resisted the temptation to look up youtube after last year with Aquaman who looks a world beater on youtube)it seems that he is a good passer, tackler and has an excellent engine.

I'm hoping that he turns out really good - he and Poulsen could maybe give Gerrard the licence to roam behind Torres.

i made friends with Porto fans when we went their a few seasons back, I asked him for his view;

Every player that comes from Porto is a good player... no doubt about that. But his success will depend on integration. Leaving sunny Portugal to go after € in a different place is not always a road to happiness.

He can play in different positions in the midfield. In front of defense or supporting the attack as he did the past years. Shoots well from distance and has lots of stamina. Plays every match for our national team and was being followed by Wenger for a long time...

Very good purchase, for a reasonable price (he wanted to leave since last season), but as I said, we never know how he will adapt.
