You'd swap a world cup finalist for an injury prone cart horse?

At least they are both committed and are prepared to fight.Unless you have a spare £50 million to lend the club we have to support what we have got,is that so difficult?

yes Kuyt is a wc finalist, yes he gives 100% every match and he would be better up front, yes he is a very nice man blah blah blah, you are all kinda missing the point, his control is woeful his passing is worse he has no pace, his shooting isn't the best either.playing him on the right is a bad move for our team,he only has a place in our team if ts 4-4-2 and he's next to Torres. i would play and work hard for the team but i would still be crap.but i do have more pace than Kuyt infact my gran is quiker;) if you are a left back, marking kuyt must be a nice day in the park because you know he is never gunna run u on the outside all they have to do is stand him up force him inside(which is what he'll do anyway)and wait for him to give the ball away. we all support who-ever wears the red shirt but we do have a right to point out that he isn't good enough for us.

i think you are missing the point - kuyt showed during the world cup that his control is actually very good (when he receives a better standard of passing than he ever gets at liverpool), his passing was much better (again probably due to the fact that he had options to pass it too and movement from players around him giving him more time and space than he ever gets at liverpool) ..... it seemed to me that it is a symptom of the team around him, the lack of movement, the lack of ideas and the poor atmosphere within the club, that caused him to look such a poor player ...... he certainly showed far better ability and attitude than that useless carthorse carlton cole has shown at any time in his career

Hopefully others agree what I'm about to say is a little more balanced than what has been said. Kuyt has popped up with vital goals and assists and is hugely valuable to the club. I think his control and skill is underrated at times because he can on occasion miss control quite badly during a dangerous looking attack. What really holds him back is his lack of pace i feel. Yes it hasn't stopped him from getting assists like the counter-attack against west brom, but I saw 3 counter-attacks previous to that where someone with a bit of pace would have done better sheerly because he wouldn't have been caught up and given defenders time to get into position. I don't think he would suit as a partner to Torres. Kuyt needs to be the most forward to score because he is a poacher, Torres needs to be the furthest forward for his style of play as well, I just can't see them clicking there. All in all I think he is underrated by a lot of people, but his distinct lack of pace makes it too easy for defenders to undo his good work. Granted the point about with better players and a better team he would do better. But that isn't what we have, we have what we have and we need what we need, and I think what we need is a lot more pace.

i agree in most respects - pace is definitely needed ..... but to say the counterattacks broke down because of his lack of pace is a bit strange ...... on a successful counter, you usually have a number of players breaking at pace drawing defenders to them or showing as options to the man on the ball, it was a lack of those options that caused the counters to break down rather than a lack of pace from the man on the ball

People, you are getting this all wrong, this is where people should come to moan about Kuyt so that we don't have to listen to the same crap dragged into every other thread in the forum. I am a big supporter of Kuyt and can't stand how his name gets dragged into everything that is wrong with LFC no matter how well he might have played in the last game or games.
The latest I noticed was that with Kuyt and Jova as our wide players we will never make the top 4... total crap, hence I started the thread in the hope that these people would post here. Nice flip-flop on your views on Dirk, why start a thread like this in the first place you lazy [oops].

You need quite a few combinations for a counter attack to work. 1. Players willing to burst there gut to get forward, 2. Movement, 3, the right pass, 4. Pace and 5 the finish. Plus it's no good having one player with all the pace in the world for no one in the team to keep up with them lol
