By luck or design i'm pretty happy with were we stand today. I'm 33 which means i've been a proper fan really since the start of the premiership. All of my favourite players have come through the ranks (Carra, Stevie, Robbie, Macca, Jamie R). Under Benitez the liverpool way disappeared. It was much better to sign an average player from La Liga than to give a kid a chance.
Perhaps it was bad management and poor timing. But i'm glad we didn't sign an overly expensive average striker this window. Looks like we are gonna play one striker. Between Ngog, Babel & Pacheco we might just find something that works until new owners come in (Certainly better to me than Cole of some foreigh player who i've never seen play).
The spine of the team is enough to chalenge for 4th (don't forget we have Pepe, cara, agger, johnston, stevie, cole & torres. We then have some obvious experienced filler that will be shipped once we get more money& hopeully this new guy mereles will not add to that.
Maybe though in the crop of exciting kids we have we just might find a few gems in (wilson, Shev,Pach, etc) and try and bring back some of what made us a great club. Something that was never gonna happen under Benitez. And will never happen at city or chelsea.
We can but hope....
