Henry admittedly was unbelievable in his day, he's past it now tho, id rather play Ngog and hope he keeps improving. Ngog is getting better, i wanted to assasinate him along with Lucas last season, but he showing potential now, Henry would be wasted wages.

I am very pleased with the transfer window shutting and what we have. Lets look at it, 2mths ago we lost our manager, serious talk of losing Torres, Gerrard, Reina and even Kuyt. Only masch has gone and as said as I am we have to move on. The addition of Cole and Meireles are positive and Jovanovic, Poulson,Konchesky and Jones are not spectacular but they will be steady. Also reducing the massive squad is a plus. Riera,Cavilieri, San Jose, El Zhar, Plessis, Nemeth to name but a few have struggled to make an impact. All in all we are left with a smaller but motivated squad. Torres is right in that we are not that far away, would a Cole or Pavlechenko propelled us upwards? unlikely. I hope for us now to be sold in October and invest properly.

Having the money tho... who would you buy as backup to Torres if we had say 25M to spend?

this has been a fantastic window for us

we got an experienced left back, maybe not the most attractive one but he will improve the squad no doubt.

we replaced benayoun and reira with joe cole and milan jovanovic (milan still has alot to prove defensively).

we got rid of aquilani who might get us some of the huge transfer fee we payed for him back.

mascherano left for a borderline acceptable amount - thank god i think pretty much all lfc fans hate him now if you don't you are an idiot.

poulsen replaces him, not the most attractive buy and not the name that was on everyones lips but if he works hard he can become an un-sung hero for us.

raul mereleis replaces aquilani, absolutley fantastic for around £10m. he will slot in with poulsen in the centre of the park once we are up and running imo. kind of player we have all been crying out for. alot of fans think he is a replacement for mascherano, more of a replacement for alonso even though he left this time last year.

no striker but roy did say he will only sign the right man, i have alot of respect for that because how much shiiiite have we seen the likes of benitez and houillier sign for big money only to end up on the anfield scrap heap.


all in all this has been a great window for us, i stongly believe roy has improved the squad lets go out and improve on last season

i reckon once poulsen and raul mereleis have bedded in they will start alongside each othe rin the centre of the park, play gerrard in the hole and push cole out wide. makes perfect sense to me. then if gerrard is injured we have a system we can adapt

i would prefer to see gerrard wide right and cole in the centre myself - one of gerrard's main strengths is his crossing

Well said, I am really looking forward to the season and the line up. I think we did great in the transfers with what we had as funds go.

In just a few months those idiots will be history and hopefully not do too much damage on their way out, with a new owner and new possibilities in the next window while our team continues to gel I really see no downside.
