Hey, can someone explain the 25-man squad rule to me in simple lay-mans terms lol. Do we need to have 8 HG players over 21 AT LEAST, as in you can have more just that 8 is the minimum you can have, or is it strictly 8 and that's your lot? As in, if you had 9 or 10 you'd have to get rid of 1 or 2? This rule keep's on confusing me, and just when I thought I had it sussed I find you can have as many under-age players as possible smirk

A home grown player is defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Welsh Football Association for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

So we need 8 players minimum who fit the bill..

Yes, I get that bit, it's just the number of HG players you're allowed that confuses me. Is it at least 8, as in you can have 9,10,11...whatever, or is it strictly just 8, no more, no less?

our best 11 is

---------------Torres-----------------

Cole-----------Gerrard-------Kuyt------

------Poulsen-----Raul Mereleis---------

Konchesky---Agger---Carragher---Johnson

---------------Reina-----------------

i think raul mereleis can become a key part of this team. he will need time as will all of the players playing under a new manager but i think this is the kind of signing we have been crying out for for so long and i dont think it will take too much time for people to realise it was a fantastic piece of business.

i'm sorry but mascherano/lucas alongside each other just wasnt good enough, thats were rafa got it wrong last season, you need 2 players that can compliment each other in the right way one who defends and the other who will also defend but get more time on the ball and start the counter attack. when we lost alonso it was easy to see what we were missing

don't care what anyone says about aquilani he is a lightweight pile of shiiiite and im glad to see the back of him to be honest. he's never going to make it in the premiership.

also the more experienced konchesky will surely perform better than insua has last season once he has time to gel.

we may have lost mascherano, but overall i think the quality of our team has improved. we are possibly a winger and a striker short of making the top four but come christmas and the latter stages of the season we will start to play our best football.

all you idoits claiming roy will get sacked by christmas are pathetic, he has a tough challenge ahead of him, but i think we will there or there abouts with the top 6 come the end of the season. improving on last season is key, you can't expect immediate fireworks
