I'm not panicking - I'm upset. When we came to the showdown we had nothing. City didn't even play all that well, yet we couldn't make any impression. Bah!

1 point from these two games isn't the end of the world, but one does need to outperform one's rivals throughout the season in order to pip them at the end. We're off on the wrong foot, which doesn't mean we can't come right, but does mean we need to be a lot smarter over the coming weeks if we're to not repeat what we did last season.

Yes it was a poor performance - but let's not forget the fact we had almost twice as many shots as them. And it was a better performance than in last season's game when MC didnt have the team they have now.

And it was a poor team formation - but I think that was more forced upon us by Masch pulling out at the last minute; Poulson is nowhere near PL match fitness, and Ngog is our current leading scorer. Yes I am sure we can all come up with other midfield options - Maxi, with Kuyt playing upfront; or my prefered option of pushing Johnson forward and playing Kelly at right-back. But it is easy to be wise after the event - I bet many of you were quite happy to see an attacking line up against City's weak defense before the start of the game (the 'weak defense' is what I repeatedly read on here before the game).

Finally we have lost 1 premier league game against a side with an unlimited amount of money to spend - if it had been at Blackpool, Wigan etc etc I could understand all the negativity. But come on, give Roy a chance to work with his full squad (including those, if any, currently elsewhere) and see where we are when we have played a good number of games.

We are Liverpool FC and we are better than all this negativity.

I think the fact we missed Joe Cole was significant. That match would've suited him down to the ground. He would have given us a constant outlet with him being the link man between the midfield and attack, and just his presence in the hole, would have stopped the possession the Man Citeh midfield had throughout the game. I could not believe the space we had between the midfield and attack, and part blame Hodgson for not changing formation/tactics. Ngog should have made way at half time for Poulsen (sure he's got 45mins in him) & Gerrard play off Torres.
He waited 78 mins before he changed anything, and that was a straight swap (Babel for Torres) once the match was over. STRANGE!!!!!!

roys mentality is not different to rafas, and people who can't see that must be blind, look at the way we've been playing in the last 3 games. I ain't saying he should be sacked bur what I am saying is he should never have got the job in the 1st place. What's good for fulham ain't good for Liverpool. Should of been kenny for me, hodgeson looks out of his depth, big time.

I don't think 4-4-2 is more attacking than 4-1-2-3 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 or any system that flows between these. We've scored a ton of goals with Torres as a long gunman - what he needs is decent support, and N'Gog isn't suited to that task. I honestly thought Torres would start but play no more than 65 or 70 minutes due to his fitness level, and then be subbed with N'Gog regardless of the score. Imagine my shock when both names were on the start sheet.

i think the original line up and formation was probably [oops] up by masch's spoilt little brat routine before the game

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Give Uncle Woy a break guys. If he was given £130 million pound and lost to City, then its a different story. Like Emp said, he just started with a pathetic squad with second best players to face a hundred million pound side. The result is clear that Shitty, with a big investment is a team to beat this season. We are playing away from home and its always going to be difficult. All i see is that unless theres a takeover soon, we will end up in the middle of the table at the end of the season. Period!

A lot of players had bad games. Carra is finished and shouldnt be a first choice CB. Agger is not a left back and should only be played as CB. Lucas, Kuyt & Jovanic were awful. Torres is not match fit and should have only come on in the second half. Johnson should be played RW instead of RB. Gerrard was too deep as he had to cope with the 3 City midfielders on his own. Roy got his team selection wrong yesterday but Masch did not help him.
However City are no great shakes considering the amount of money they have spent and the press that they are getting is as if they are world beaters. They will not win anything this season.
